MitoConference2024: Mitocon launches the call for abstract for Young Investigator Session

Mitocon and its Scientific Committee welcome the abstract submission for presenting at the Young Investigator Session focusing on the following topics related to mitochondrial diseases:

  • Basic Science
  • Natural History
  • Translational Research
  • Therapies

All accepted abstracts will be exhibited as posters, presented during a Poster Session and reported in the Conference Abstract Book. The 4 best abstracts will be presented as oral communication.

The Young Investigator Session will be held on 26th October during the Mitochondrial Disease Conference – Mito Conference 2024 that will take place in Padova (25-27 October).

Those interested are invited to submit abstract no later than July 15th 2024.

MITO Awards for Young Investigators

Mitocon is pleased to announce the Mito Awards for Young Investigators, to recognise and stimulate the high-level scientific activity of young scientists in the field of mitochondrial diseases. Each award will consist of € 500. The prize will be awarded for the best oral presentation and for the best poster presentation.

  • Best Oral Presentation Award 
  • Best Poster Presentation Award 

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Maximum 5 years post PhD
  • Must be of age 35 years or younger

General Points

  1. Abstracts must be submitted in English, in Word and PDF format.
  2. Abstracts must be relevant to the conference topics
  3. Presenting authors can submit a maximum of one abstract
  4. The abstract must include:
  • Keywords – maximum 6
  • Introduction/Scope
  • Material and methods
  • Results and discussion
  • Conclusions
  • Acknowledgement
  • References
  1. The maximum length of the abstract is 2500 characters (spaces excluded). Abstracts exceeding the limit will be rejected.
  2. The title should not exceed 150 characters including spaces;
  3. Abstracts from commercial entities are not admitted.

Please, make sure to state your correct e-mail address. After having submitted your poster, you will receive a confirmation by e-mail.

Deadline for abstracts submission

Abstracts with a detailed curriculum vitae should be sent by 15th July only by email to scientific.office@mitocon.it  indicating in the subject of the email “Young Investigator Session” and enclosing a form with details of the contact person (name, surname, email, telephone). Abstract received after this date will not be evaluated.

Abstracts Selection

Four (4) abstracts will be selected for a 15-minute oral communication (10+5 Q&A) during the plenary sessions. All abstracts will be accepted as a Poster presentation.

For each of the following topics, the best abstract will be selected:

  • Basic science
  • Natural History
  • Translational Research
  • Progress in therapies

Conditions for Participation

Authors of accepted abstracts are required to register and pay a fee to attend the Conference, as well as cover their own travel to Padova and accommodation costs.

Registration of presenting authors must be done by 30 September 2024 (midnight CEST). Deadline for abstract submission is 15th July.

Notification

Final selection will be made by at least 4 expert of the Mitocon Scientific Committee. Notification of acceptance or rejection of submitted abstracts will be sent to the corresponding authors by July 30 2024.
