Mito Conference 2026: abstract submission now open

Call for Abstracts – Young Investigator & Poster Sessions
Mito Conference 2026 – Pisa

Mitocon and its Scientific Committee welcome abstract submissions from  national and international early-career researchers for the Young Investigator Session and Poster Session, focusing on the following topics:

  • Basic Science
  • Natural History
  • Translational Research
  • Therapies

All accepted abstracts will be exhibited as posters, presented during a Poster Session and reported in the Conference Abstract Book. The 4 best abstracts will be presented as oral communication during the Young Investigator Session on January 24th

MITO Awards for Young Investigators

Mitocon is pleased to announce the Mito Awards for Young Investigators, to recognise and stimulate the high-level scientific activity of young scientists in the field of mitochondrial diseases. Each award will consist of € 500. The prize will be awarded for the best oral presentation and for the best poster presentation.

Eligibility

  • Aged 35 or younger at the time of abstract submission;
  • Without a permanent academic or research position;
  • PhD students;
  • Researchers up to 5 years post-PhD;
  • Medical residents or researchers enrolled in advanced scientific or biomedical training

Applicants must provide a signed self-certification confirming they meet the eligibility criteria.

Deadline for abstract submission:
October 1st, 2025

Conditions for Participation

Authors of accepted abstracts are requested to register and pay the registration fee to attend the Conference, as well as cover their own travel to Pisa and accommodation costs.

Registration of presenting authors must be done by 22nd December 2025 (midnight CEST).
